Pearl Medical Complex Lab

Pearl Medical Practice PLLC, possess a cutting-edge high complexity laboratory performing in-house testing for immunoassays, respiratory illnesses, toxicology, infectious diseases, and microbial species.  Pearl lab has Certificate of Accreditation through CLIA and accredited through COLA.  The lab is staffed by an PhD level on-site director and highly trained laboratory technologists.  Pearl's in-house lab is able to provide fast-turnaround times for our patients and excellent support to our healthcare providers.

Dr. Lewis Jackson - Lab Director

Lewis graduated from the University of Kentucky in 2010 with a PhD in chemistry, with a focus on mass spectrometry method development and biomarker discovery. His PhD thesis focused on proteomic changes in the brain with the progression on Alzheimer's Disease. He began his professional career at Alltech Inc. where he developed a method for mycotoxin detection in grains which was developed into a program called the 37+ program, serving farmers and feed distributers throughout the world. Lewis has also gained experience in the clinical, pharmaceutical, and biomarker discovery industries. He possesses extensive experience with LC-MS/MS, GC-MS and ICP-MS method development and validation with the goal of bringing sensitivity, accuracy, and high sample throughput to the analytical workflow. Lewis has 7 years of clinical laboratory experience and much of the clinical work Lewis has performed involves meeting CLIA, COLA, FDA, ISO 17025 requirements for method validation as well as writing SOP’s to meet requirements of accrediting bodies. Lewis joined Pearl Medical in February of 2019, serving as the laboratory director. He routinely serves as the subject matter expert on toxicology and mass spectrometry based clinical chemistries and provides support for technical questions from healthcare providers. Lewis’s research interests center on using high sensitivity analytical instrumentation to identify and quantify biomarkers in cancer patients, providing a way for clinicians to identify diseases earlier, track the progress of the disease, and determine the effectiveness of treatment. When not in the lab, Lewis likes to spend time with his wife, two boys, and two dogs hiking, traveling, and learning new things.
